The students have three projects on the go right now. An art project for Remembrance Day Ceremony which will be displayed in the cafetorium. The students are put in groups of 2 to 4 and they have to paint/draw one quarter of a flower on a large sheet of bristol board. That project is due beginning of November.
The next project is a drama/french (written and spoken). The students have to put themselves in the "shoes" of an inanimate object and act like that object. They have to present this drama piece in front of the class for one minute. They are more than welcome to use props. The drama piece monologue should be typed, double spaced and handed to me (or emailed) on October 29th. The third project is a geography project due November 12 (this may potentially change). They are going to be urban planners and create an imaginary town of 10 000 people. They are to work individually (their choice) or in groups of two. They need to include 5 different zones (residential, commercial, industrial, recreational and institutional). They need to present it in front of the class once finished. Handouts with rubrics have been distributed regarding these projects (except for the Remembrance Day one). Progress reports are coming up. They will be sent home November 7th.

Bonne action de grâce! Wishing you all a happy thanksgiving surrounded by family and friends! It's amazing what a day with family can do for your soul. We've just had a new addition to our family. My brother and his wife welcomed Allegra. The most beautiful baby girl. I may be a little biased. She's our first extension to the family. One little 4kg person has changed my family's focus in the wink of an eye. So thankful.
This week is turning out to be quite busy again. On Tuesday, we have 14 students away (between the morning and afternoon class) helping with the soccer tournament at Beckwith Park. Tuesday, is supposed to be a hot day (25 degrees but it's going to feel like 33), please make sure they have a hat, sunscreen and water. On Wednesday, they have their first geography test. It's a variety of short answers, true or false and multiple choice. On Friday, they have their first spelling test. It's only four sentences long. Here are the sentences they need to study for: 1. |
